Why manifesto? We didn’t really want to use the words “About us”.
The Buro of Ideas is a studio in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria, that creates identities, printed stuff, digital bits and pieces, websites, environments & spaces, objects and experiences. It all starts with an idea. Let the Buro be part of that idea – and then we can work together to bring it to life.
"Now in my early 40's, I feel the need to make sure I am helping my clients to think outside the clean, white, finessed box – and strive to search for an ‘idea’ that seems truly creative and raw and fresh and unique. Lets start scattering wonder and difference back on to the surfaces and spaces that we adorn.
Wouldn’t it be lovely to start with an idea – to then take that idea, and turn it into something exciting, beautiful and effective?"
Culture is good. It makes us feel comfortable. It makes us feel safe. We trust something if it fits into the confines of a culture we are familiar with and resonate with. And that’s a good thing! We know what we like – and we celebrate that. Understanding the culture of our audience means that we can attempt to prescribe that ‘thing’ within our design that will resonate and create comfort – and hopefully gain acceptance. If we turn the right dials on our design – on our ideas – on our product or service – we can successfully deliver that message into a culture group. But, what if we could send in a ‘package’ that transforms that culture – for the better. Betterment, wonder and excitement can come from challenging a culture’s ‘normal’ framework. And it happens all the time – driven by people willing to offer up something unique and fresh. In design. In music. In technology. In service. In everything! Find a new idea – give it life – and offer something that will excite people out of their normal, well-trodden tracks. They don’t have to leave their culture. They just get to add something different and fresh into the mix.
